Abstract We consider a nonlinear discrete-time population model for the dynamics of an age-structured species. This model has the form of a Lure feedback system (well-known in control theory) and is a particular case of the system studied by Townley et al. in [1]. The main objective is to show that, in this case, the range of nonlinearities for which the existence of globally asymptotically stable non-zero equilibrium can be guaranteed is considerably larger than in the main result in [1]. We illustrate our results with several biologically meaningful examples.

Dynamical behavior of a stage structured prey-predator model

In this paper, a new stage structured prey-predator model with linear functional response is proposed and studied. The stages for prey have been considered. The proposed mathematical model consists of three nonlinear ordinary differential equations to describe the interaction among juvenile prey, adult prey and predator populations. The model is analyzed by using linear stability analysis to ob...

Permanence and global asymptotic stability of a delayed predator-prey model with Hassell-Varley type functional response

Here, a predator-prey model with Hassell-Varley type functional responses is studied. Some sufficient conditions are obtained for the permanence and global asymptotic stability of the system by using comparison theorem and constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional. Moreover, an example is illustrated to verify the results by simulation.

Lyapunov Functions and Global Stability for Age-Structured HIV Infection Model

We study the basic age-structured population model describing the HIV infection process, which is defined by PDEs. The model allows the production rate of viral particles and the death rate of productively infected cells to vary and depend on the infection age. By using the direct Lyapunov method and constructing suitable Lyapunov functions, dynamical properties of the agestructured model witho...

Permanence and Stability of an Age-Structured Prey-Predator System with Delays

An age-structured prey-predator model with delays is proposed and analyzed. Mathematical analyses of the model equations with regard to boundedness of solutions, permanence, and stability are analyzed. By using the persistence theory for infinite-dimensional systems, the sufficient conditions for the permanence of the system are obtained. By constructing suitable Lyapunov functions and using an...

Age-dependency in host-vector models: The global analysis

In this paper, we introduce and analyze two structured models for the transmission of a vector-borne infectious disease. The first of these models assumes that the level of contagiousness and the rate of removal (recovery) of infected individuals depends on the infection age. In the second model the hosts population is structured with respect to the physical age of the hosts, and the susceptibi...
